It will have hardly escaped anyone’s notice that work on the new underground car park in calle Antonio Ferrandis is way behind schedule. In fact, all work on the project stopped in October, which was also its last amended completion date.
The project has been beset with various problems, each adding its own delay, and now a new problem has arisen. The plans for the car park were drawn up in 2004 and, as a result of the world moving on since then, they have become outdated.
There are now new ‘norms’ for electrical installations, ventilation and security, and devices for reading license plates now have to be installed. All this means that the original draft has to be revised and go through the long-winded approval process once more. The budget for this loan-financed project, originally €2.4 million, is, of course, going to rise rather a bit.
It is now hoped that work on the project will resume in February and that the whole thing will be finished in the summer, although no mention has been made of which February or which summer…..
