FUENGIROLA, STILL TOP OF THE PILE

Another year on and Fuengirola is still top of the waste recycling list for Málaga province. Last year, a total of 2,311 tons of waste paper, glass and plastic was collected and taken for reprocessing.

The city boasts 377 waste containers, of which 229 are located underground, and the Council is planning to install more this year as it attempts to keep the town clean and tidy. In fact, the Council has long since put in a request for more recycling containers but, as yet, they have just not arrived.

The collection of paper and cardboard within the city now takes place three times per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Last year, a total of 835,000 kilos of the stuff was collected for subsequent recycling.
