Nerja’s new Councillor for Public Health and Safety (amongst other things), Andrés Marquéz, has been outlining a number of changes and improvements to the service of collecting and housing of stray animals and the application of new regulations relating to such animals.
The municipal dog pound is to drastically improved under the new plans, but it is the application of new legislation which is likely to cause more comment! Under the new legislation, it will become an offence to feed a ‘stray’ animal, such a practice being deemed a threat to public health. The Local Police will report offenders to the Town Hall who will then issue a fine…..
