Anyone with a one litre bottle of ‘Jugo de Noni TAHITIAN NONI’ fruit juice in the house is advised not to drink it until the results of tests being carried out by the Institute of Toxicology are known.
Two people in Ogijares, Granada, were taken ill with food poisoning allegedly associated with the consumption of the juice, one of whom later died. Although it is unlikely that any possible poisoning is widespread, the Ministry of Health has issued the warning. The tests currently being carried out should confirm whether the death was as a result of drinking this particular juice.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Health have taken measures to stop the further supply of this brand of juice until the toxicology test results are known and have referred the matter to the Spanish Agency for Food Safety (Agencia Española de Seguridad Alimentaria).
