National Police and Labour Inspectors yesterday carried out a large-scale and thorough control of employment contracts at the site of building works being carried out on the Málaga metro.
At 17:00, fifty officers blocked all entrances and exits to the metro and underground section of the local train service and proceeded to carry out a massive inspection of the documentation of all those involved in the building works. The operation lasted about two hours and during this time, none of the staff were allowed to leave the area until the inspection had finished.
The focus of the operation was on two building sub-contractors whose workforces consist mainly of immigrants. The authorities had reason to believe that the same documentation was being used to hire two people at the same time from different areas, notably Málaga and Córdoba.
