A new high-speed AVE shuttle service between Málaga and Sevilla should be operational by February 20th according to an announcement made by the Minister of Development, Magdalena Alvarez, at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) currently being held in Madrid.
This new service will reduce the travelling time between the two provincial capitals to one hour and fifty-five minutes. There will be six trains per day in each direction, each one capable of carrying 237 passengers, and the stops en route will be Antequera, Puente Genil and Cordoba. The trains will travel at speeds of up to 250 kph. The journey from Málaga to Córdoba will take one hour and five minutes.
Ticket prices for the new Málaga-Sevilla service will be €30 for a single journey with a 20% reduction if a return ticked is purchased. Regular users can buy a 44 ticket subscription which will reduce the single price to €15.18. There is also a reduction for the purchase of a 20 ticket subscription.
Ticket prices for the Málaga-Córdoba section will be €19.05 for a single journey, going down to €8.76 with the purchase of the 44 ticket subscription.
In general, tickets purchased via the internet carry up to a 60% price reduction. RENFE, the rail network operators, is in the process of changing its web reservation system to make it much easier use. The new site, also operational by the end of February, will allow customers to choose the train they wish to use and to see the places available on that train.
