As the search for missing five year old Mari Luz Cortés becomes more low key, the family are now offering a reward of €150,000 to anyone providing a ‘reliable lead’ as to her whereabouts.
Mari Luz Cortés disappeared on January 13th after going to buy some sweets at a local kiosk in Huelva. Initial large-scale search operations involving up to 250 professionals and volunteers failed to find any trace of the girl. The police even went so far as to search the entire garbage output of the city, some sixty truckloads, but also without success.
The family have now decided to offer a reward, any pay-out coming from the sale of their house, the value of which has determined the amount of the reward. Luis Molina, a spokesman for the family, announced the reward offer at a press conference and said he hoped that people would realise the enormous effort and sacrifice being made by the family and not take advantage or play with their feelings in this matter.
Alas, there have already been reports of various people asking for money on behalf of Mari Luz, especially via the internet, none of whom have any connection whatsoever with the family.
