Plainclothes officers from the National and Local Police forces are now patrolling certain areas of Málaga city to try and put an end to the current spate of arson attacks.
At around 22:30 on Friday night, a rubbish container was set on fire in calle Ayamonte in the west of the city and then at 04:30, the Fire Brigade were called out to a similar fire in calle Cárcer in the centre of town. The two incidents are thought to be unrelated due to the distance between them.
The pyromania started at the end of last year in the west of the city and although intermittent, it has been nonetheless persistent. This past week has seen four cars and a dozen rubbish containers burned in the La Palmilla and Ciudad Jardín districts.
