SPORT IN MIJAS TO BE MORE EXPENSIVE

The cost of sporting activities in municipal centres in Mijas is set to rise by, on average, around 25% as from March 1st 2008 and in a new move, the requirements for annual membership cards, which offer the user a discount of up to 50%, are also set to change.

In the first price hike since January 2004, the cost of practicing sporting activities in municipal sports facilities in Mijas is set to increase by, on average, 25%. The increase is to cover the rise in general maintenance costs during the intervening period.

Membership cards, which entitle the user to a 50% discount on the single ticket price, are also set to rise. An annual adult membership will, as from March 1st 2008, cost €40 (from €35) and an annual children’s membership will cost €20 (up from €10).

One of the main changes to the membership system will be the requirement for members to be actually registered as resident in Mijas. The move is to offer Mijeños a better service as, currently, the centres are overloaded with visitors, particularly from neighbouring municipalities.
