Not much demand for council houses in Nerja, then, as only 807 families have applied for the 13 units being built on a plot of land ceded by the Council in La Noria.
The thirteen houses, one of which is reserved for persons not on the municipal census, are 90 square metres and will be priced at €136,349 each.
The criteria for getting on the list for the units was:
- Not owning any other property
- Earning less than 4.5 times the national IPREM, which in 2007 was €6,988.80.
IPREM is the Indicador Público de Renta de Efectos Múltiples and replaced the old SMI (Salario Minimo Interprofesional) in 2004 as the benchmark for calculating such things as housing assistance, grants and unemployment benefits.
