TORROX CARNIVAL

Carnival celebrations in Torrox will once again be held, for the most part, in Plaza de la Constitución. The first carnival activities will begin on Friday 15th of February.

Plaza de la Marina in El Morche is the scene of the first events on Friday 15th February with the traditional music and fancy dress competitions, starting at 17:00.

Saturday 16th sees the action move to the Plaza de la Constitución in the historical centre of Torrox, a huge marquee being erected in the square.

Sunday 17th February is the traditional procession through the streets of Torrox.

Another event planned in conjunction with the Carnival celebrations is the screening of a series of films by Fernando Fernán Gómez, this to take place at the multi-purpose centre in the Jardines de la Plaza Picasso (just below Plaza de la Constitución). These ‘Wednesday Movies’ actually start today, at 20:00, with the screening of ‘El viaje a ninguna parte’ (Journey to Nowhere). Wednesday 13th February is ‘La Lengua de las Mariposas’ (The Language of Butterflies), Wednesday 20th February is ‘Las bicicletas son para el verano’ (Bicycles are for the Summer) and the final film in the series is on February 27th and is ‘El Abuelo’ (The Grandfather).
