CAR THIEVES APPREHENDED

The National Police have put paid to an organised network involved in the theft and smuggling of top of the range cars.

Three Spaniards and two Italians have so far been detained following an investigation which was started as a result of information received from the Italian police. They have been charged with theft, fraud and the falsification of documents.

Cars were stolen in Italy, often whilst the owners were at home, and then quickly brought to Spain by boat where they were suitably doctored and then sold through a network of companies. At least ten cars, valued at over one million euros, are thought to have been sold in Valencia, Alicante, Sevilla, Cuenca, Murcia, La Rioja and Navarra and the police are busy trying to trace those vehicles.
