The provincial president of the Partido Popular, Joaquin Ramirez, has been outlining his party’s proposals for the area should his party win the upcoming general election on March 9th.
The PP propose to introduce a Plan Rector de Infraestructuras de Andalucía (PRIA) 2008-2012 (Master Plan for Infrastructure in Andalucía) which will include specific items relating to Estepona, an area the party say is frequently overlooked by the Andalucían government.
One proposed project is the construction of a district hospital in Estepona. According to Ramirez, the best that the area has so far been offered is the vague promise of a CHARE, basically a large office or small hospital.
Another is the creation of two major highways linking the Costa del Sol with Sevilla. One would be follow the route Ronda-San Pedro de Alcantara-Algodonales-Sevilla, the other, yet to be defined, would link Estepona with Sevilla.
