NEW OIL SPILL IN ALGECIRAS

High winds are causing havoc in the Straits of Gibraltar, including producing a new oil spill said to be from the stricken cargo vessel ‘New Flame’.

The Junta de Andalucía has revived its Terrotorial Emergency Plan after an oil slick hit the beach of La Concha in Algeciras. Environmentalists say that the spillage is from the ‘New Flame’ which has now finally sunk, but the authorities in Gibraltar deny this.

However, it is reported that along with the oil, a float and a record book also appeared which could shed some light on the situation. The authorities in Algeciras are studying the find.
