It was a bit like a photographer’s convention down at calle Carabeo, Nerja, yesterday, as several were checking out the latest situation regarding the road works.
This is phase one of a proposed four phase renovation plan to be completed over a period of eighteen months in order to minimise disruption and general inconvenience for both residents and tourists. Work is due to stop, ostensibly due to completion of each phase, during each of the main holiday periods.

So, Phase One is due to be completed by Easter. But which Easter? There is still almost a month to go, but it does not look promising at the moment. This was at a ‘normal’ time of day, not siesta, and there were only three workmen on site.
The walkway along the road is now very narrow and bumpy and several people turned back within a very short space of time, deciding ‘not to bother’. This particularly applied to those with pushchairs or those with impeded mobility.
There are already plans for a new underground car park at Burriana beach and a new Community Services centre, amongst other projects, but wouldn’t it be nice, for a change, if one of them actually got finished? The Verano Azul car park, for example, is way behind schedule due to numerous delays and stoppages.
