Riot police firing tear gas and rubber bullets had to break up a clash between neo-Nazis and anti-fascists in the centre of Madrid. Seven people were arrested.
The far-right party, with the permission of the local authorities, were holding an election rally in the Tirso de Molina area of the city. Security was high for the planned event and the police attempted to clear the square in preparation for the rally. However, this was not entirely successful and did not prevent the clashes.
No-one was injured in the ensuing riot but there was much damage to street furniture and cars, the police having to break things up using tear gas and rubber bullets.
