The investigation into the murder of two brothers in Villanueva del Trabuco appears to be progressing rapidly.
The bodies of two brothers, Juan and Francisco, were found on a farm near Casillas Vacas where they had been working picking olives. Both had been shot. The bodies were discovered by a third brother, José.
José was later detained, along with another man, on suspicion of being involved in the shootings and have since been ‘helping police with their enquiries’.
The murder weapon, a hunting rifle, has been located.
The main theory being pursued is that the whole scenario centres around inheritance money. Upon the death of their father, the three brothers inherited several farms and houses in the Archidona area whose value was in excess of half a million euros. José sold his share of the inheritance and bought a house and a shop in Málaga.
However, it seems that José was keen to get his hands on everything and had, allegedly, tried to commission a crime of murder on several occasions in the past. It is also alleged that he agreed to pay a sum of around €42,000 to an assassin, the second detainee, although the money would not be paid until the properties belonging to his brothers had been sold.
Both men are due to appear in court today.
