Sevilla were surprisingly beaten by Fenerbahce and are out of the Champions League competition, although it did go to extra time and then a penalty shootout.
Sevilla appeared to be on their way to victory after two early mistakes by Fenerbahce keeper Volkan Demirel allowed an Alves free kick and a long shot from Keita into the net in the first ten minutes.
However, Deivid got one back for Fenerbahce and although Kanouté restored the two goal cushion before the break, a second goal from Deivid took the game into extra time and then into a penalty shootout. Volkan, early villain, became late hero, making three penalty saves to take the Turkish side through.
