The Nerja Council have asked for a meeting with the Delegación de Salud to discuss the financing of the proposed new health centre to be built near Burriana beach.
The opposition PSOE have tabled a motion to denounce the current 50%-50% financing agreement and calling for the new health centre to be totally financed by the regional Delegación de Salud.
The (PP controlled) Nerja Council has always believed it was forced into agreeing to share the costs of the project but has nevertheless included items in their budget in order to carry out the work. So, they all agree for once. But nothing is ever that simple.
The Council are apparently pleased that the PSOE have come round to their way of thinking but will only support the motion, scheduled for the next plenary session, if the (PSOE) representative of the Delegación de Salud, María Antigua Escalera, agrees, in writing, to take on the project in its entirity. There is a body of opinion that believes that any verbal agreements could be influenced by the fact that regional and national elections are about to take place.
The current state of play regarding the proposed new health centre is that the Council are awaiting approval from the Junta de Andalucía for the latest change of location for the building.
