The Cofradia de Jesús Resucitado in Nerja will, for the third year in a row, see the release on Resurrection Sunday of a Nerja resident who is currently serving a jail sentence in Alhaurín de la Torre prison.
The prisoner, a ‘third grade’ inmate in Alhaurín de la Torre prison, began serving his two years and ten days sentence last February 4th. The 52 year old man, initials M.R.J., was convicted of a crime against the public health, drugs in other words.
He is being released under a ‘pardon’ rite granted to the Cofradia del Rico dating back to 1756. Also being released on this occasion is one prisoner in Vélez-Málaga (through the Hermandad de la Sentencia) and two prisoners in Marbella (through the Cofradía de Jesús del Amor, San Juan Evangelista y la Virgen de la Caridad).
