The Nerja Council is planning to install artificial lighting systems on three beaches to allow sporting activities at night.
Burriana, El Salon and Calahonda are the chosen beaches and the Council is hoping to have the lighting systems up and running by the summer. The project is costing €75,000 and the objective is not only to give residents and tourists the chance to enjoy sporting activities after sunset, but also to provide an alternative to the increasingly popular local ‘botellón’ (street drinking parties) for the youth of the town.
In addition, the Nerja Council is planning to organise a number of sporting activities and competitions including football and volleyball matches.
