The Public Prosecutor in Málaga is seeking a two and a half year prison term for a man who robbed a bank after they refused to give him an ‘advance’ on his pension.
The incident took place last July at the Banesto bank in calle Martínez Maldonado. The defendant, a regular customer at the bank, entered the premises early in the morning and made a request for the advancement of €1,500 on his pension. His request was denied.
The man then went to one of the tellers and asked him for €1,500. When the teller asked for the account number, the defendant indicated that he had a weapon concealed under a folder and blurted out, ‘give me the money or I’ll kill you!’.
The teller, through fear, handed over all the money he had, €4,065. The defendant then made his getaway.
Being a regular customer and known at the bank, he was not that difficult to trace. Wonder if his name was Baldrick? However, the stolen money was never traced and the Public Prosecutor is also demanding that the defendant be ordered to repay the €4,065 to the bank.
