The latest census figures for Nerja show that the registered population is now 22, 014, of which 6,525 (29.64%) are foreigners.
A total of 76 nationalities make up the foreign population, with UK citizens being by far and away the largest section, 2,639 of them The next largest, way behind, are the Argentinians with 601. The foreign population is made up of 3,358 women and 3,167 men.
Age-wise, the most numerous group are those aged between 60 years and 80 years, although there is a significant rise in the number of 0 to 10 year old group. Obviously the older age group are having more kids these days.
