Tomorrow, Sunday, is the Día del Aceite Verdial in Periana and an estimated 15,000 people are expected to attend the fiesta.
The event. which now has the status of ‘Festival of Provincial Tourist Interest’, starts at 10:30 with a traditional breakfast of coffee, bread, olive oil and green beans accompanied by the dulcet tones of the choir Camino de Olivares. At 11:45 there is a flamenco show by the quartet La Lupi,
At 12:30, in the square behind the church, the festival will be officially declared open Ana Gómez from the office of Tourism, Trade and Sport. This will be followed by the Green Olive Awards, which this year go to the singer of Danza Invisible, Javier Ojeda, to journalist Inmaculada Javata and to the associations for the disabled, AMIVEL and SOPDE.
Paella and other local munchies are next on the agenda and throughout the day there will be various music and dance shows, including a concert by Javier Ojeda at 17:30.
