One man died and another was captured after a cops and robbers shootout early this morning in Cijuela, Granada.
A police investigation into several individuals, all thought to be part of a gang responsible for a number of violent robberies in petrol stations and industrial establishments in the Cijuela area, has been ongoing for several months. The gang are also thought to have been involved in two armed robberies carried out on Friday afternoon.
At around three o’clock this morning, police officers caught up with the gang after staking out a local petrol station and in the ensuing gun battle, one of the robbers was shot and killed. A second youth was detained but the third member of the gang managed to escape.
The deceased was aged 25 years and was a known criminal. The captured gang member is 23 years old and also has a criminal record.
