As many as 15,000 small businesses in Andalucía could go under in the next couple of years.
A report by the National Federation for Self-Employed, the current economic crises could adversely affect as many as 15,000 small businesses, with most being forced to cease trading within the next couple of years. Nationally, the number of endangered businesses is put at 100,000.
The construction and real estate industries are already feeling the pinch due to the economic situation but there has also recently been a slump in retail trade. People are buying the basics but foregoing the ‘luxuries’, and industries such as textiles, footwear and, to some extent food, have witnessed a drop in sales during the past three months.
Adding to the general problems are such things as the current strength of the euro. Holidaymakers may still be arriving in the same numbers as in previous years, but they are spending less, and this will hit many small businesses quite hard.
