The man who ran over his partner while she was carrying their nine month old baby has been remanded in custody.
All three had been in a car near the town of La Rinconada, Sevilla, last Wednesday when a heated discussion took place. The woman then got out of the car, carrying the baby in her arms. The man proceeded to run them over. He has been charged with attempted murder.
The woman is still in intensive care at the Hospital Virgen Macarena where her condition is described as serious but stable. The baby is also in hospital under observation but is not in any danger.
In a statement made today, the provincial director of the Andalucían Women’s Institute, Angeles García, made it known that the woman had, in the past, spent one and a half years in a safe refuge and added that once the woman had recovered sufficiently, she would be offered psychological and legal assistance.
