For the third year running, the restaurant ‘El Bulli’ in Roses, Girona, has been voted as being the best in the world.
The restaurant is run by one of Spain’s most famous chefs, Ferrán Adriá, known also as the ‘alchemist of the kitchen’ for his tendency to experiment in order to create new dishes and flavours.
The awards are in their seventh year and are decided by an international jury known collectively as the Nespresso Academy. The Academy is made up of 700 chefs, restaurateurs and critics. The readers of the magazine ‘Restaurant’, founded in London in 2001, also have a say in the awards.
Second place in the Top Fifty went to the British restaurant ‘The Fat Duck’ in Berkshire, run by Heston Blumenthal.
