The Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs has withdrawn the recommendation not to consume girasol (sunflower oil).
Sunflower oil originating from the Ukraine was found to be contaminated and on Friday, the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs advised people to avoid consuming the product, although stressing that the levels of contamination were minimal and presented no threat to human health.
All contaminated batches have now been identified, located and withdrawn from the food chain and the Ministry says that, as from today, none of the sunflower oil on sale originates from the Ukraine. The European Commission has confirmed that contaminated oil was also found in the UK, Netherlands, Italy and France.
