Road works to be carried out on the N-340 between Chilches and Benajarafe will now take place over the summer period.
The project, which includes asphalting and the laying of various underground cables and pipes, was put out to tender with a price of €1.3 million and a completion period of twelve months. The municipal company who were awarded the contract, EMVIPSA, made a bid of €1.1 million with a completion period of just six months. A good start.
However, various delays and last minute changes caused the start of the project to be postponed for two months and it wasn’t until yesterday that the first stone was officially laid by the Councillor for Infrastructure, Claudio Morales.
The Council is keen to see the project finished before the start of the rainy season and has therefore decided to press on regardless, despite this meaning that the work will continue through the summer holiday period.
