A court in Sevilla has finally shelved a case brought against the former mayor of Tomares. Antonia Hierro, for the embezzlement of public funds.
The case dates back to 2004 when two Local Police officers provided an escort on the occasion of her daughter’s wedding. The two officers, friends of the family, provided the escort as a ‘surprise’ and as a bit of ‘entertainment’ but made the mistake of paying for petrol with public funds.
The court has tried to shelve the case on numerous occasions but the Partido Popular, then in opposition, kept insisting on reopening it due to various bits of ‘new evidence’. However, they have now abandoned the case against Antonia Hierro. The Partido Popular, coincidentally, are now in power in Tomares.
