A dozen cottages and farmhouses in the Loma de los Tres Cortijos area of El Borge were left without electricity after thieves stole all the cables.
Initially, it was thought that the lack of electricity supply in the area was due to some sort of power failure and technicians went to investigate. However, the technicians could not locate the cables and it became apparent that they had been stolen.
The thieves, who had worked in broad daylight, stole about 1,000 metres of braided cable.
