Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo, arrested last week after an altercation with three transvestites, has already lost one lucrative sponsorship contract and could lose more.
Ronaldo, who made a tiny error of judgement in his team selection, has already lost a $4.8 million sponsorship deal with mobile phone company TIM in the wake of the ensuing scandal.
Ronaldo had invited three ‘ladies’ to his hotel room as paid company. However, the three ‘ladies’ turned out to be three men, transvestites, and an altercation broke out regarding payment and Ronaldo was arrested. He has subsequently admitted to being ‘deeply ashamed’ about the incident.
This has not, however, prevented TIM from pulling the plug under a clause in the contract allowing them to unilaterally terminate the agreement in the event of any negative publicity. It is also rumoured that NIKE are currently ‘reviewing’ a lifetime deal with the soccer ace which is worth in the region of $100 million.
Could turn out to be a costly ‘inappropriate moment’ for the two-time World Cup winner.
