Neighbours and relatives of 76 year old María Juana López, who died following a domestic dispute, gathered in Jerez yesterday against this latest incident of ‘macho’ violence.
The alleged assassin, the 77 year old former partner of María Juana López, was remanded in custody without bail. The protesters were demanding life imprisonment for the man and, in general, more surveillance as the accused was already the subject of a restraining order.
