A pedestrian was seriously injured in Málaga on Monday night after being run over by a man who later tested positive for drugs.
The victim, a 20 year old Ecuadorian national, was crossing the road when he was hit by a car and is now in hospital with serious injuries.
According to witnesses, the driver allegedly tried to stagger away from the scene of the accident but was intercepted by Local Police officers. Due to his inability to maintain his balance, the police carried out an alcohol test but this proved to be negative. Later, in the Civil Hospital, a blood test revealed the presence of four narcotic or psychotropic drugs in his body including cannabis and cocaine.
The driver, a 36 year old man, was detained in police custody.
