It was nine o’clock in the morning when a police patrol observed a scooter carrying out dodgy manoeuvres in the las Flores area of Málaga.
The driver of the scooter only just missed colliding with several vehicles and a school bus so the police decided to follow, but at a safe distance as they observed a minor on the back of the machine and were keen to avoid causing an accident.
The scooter then proceeded to ignore people using a zebra crossing, once again almost causing an incident. The police made their presence known to the driver who merely looked around and then promptly ignored them.
Eventually, the scooter was stopped. The driver was a 26 year old woman in the advanced stages of pregnancy. On the back of the machine was her 9 year old son. At the front, holding onto the handlebars, were two other children aged 4 years and 7 years. And they all had backpacks!
The woman was duly arrested and charged with reckless driving. In her defence she said, ‘I am late for school’.
