Unemployment throughout Andalucía continues to rise with a total of 551,404 registered unemployed, up by 5,885 on April 2008.
The rise in unemployment has occurred in all provinces. Almería tops the list with a 5.33% increase followed by Jaén with 3.42%. Cádiz registered the lowest rise, a mere 0.28%.
There are 237,518 men without work and 313,885 women. Of the total unemployed, 67,137 are under the age of 25 years.
In Málaga province there are 102,274 registered unemployed and by sector these are:
- Service Industry – 60,109
- Construction – 19,951
- Industry – 7,805
- Agriculture – 2,398
The total includes 11,387 people under the age of 25 years and 12,011 who have never had a job before.
