Two people required hospital treatment after a gas leak in a block of flats in calle Antonio Ferrandis ‘Chanquete’, Nerja.
The police and Fire Brigade arrived on the scene after residents of the five storey apartment block reported a strong smell of gas. The leak was caused by a faulty regulator on a butano gas installation. The police cordoned off the area and evacuated the building.
The two people who needed hospital treatment live on the second floor, which is where the leak occurred. One of those hospitalised, a woman of about 50 years, was later discharged but her partner has been kept in hospital for observation although his condition is described as ‘non-life threatening’.
After about an hour, the residents of the block were allowed back into their homes.
