There was an explosion at 03:00 this morning at the El Correo printing works in Zamudio, near Bilbao.
A device placed in front of the El Correo printing works detonated at 03:00 this morning causing a huge area of the facade of the building to collapse. The blast also damaged the roof of the building and the shockwaves affected neighbouring premises.
There were no injuries reported, despite some 50 print workers being inside the building when the bomb went off. The workers were evacuated from the building minutes after the explosion and the whole area was cordoned off.
The bombing is being attributed to ETA although this has yet to be confirmed officially.
El Correo belongs to the Vocento newspaper group, whose publications have been the subject of several ETA attacks in the past, the worst incident occurring in May 2001 when ETA assassinated the financial director of El Diario Vasco, Santiago Oleaga.
