Police have broken up an international drugs smuggling organisation based in Granada and Madrid with nineteen people so far being arrested.
The detainees hail from Argentina, Colombia, Dominican Republic and Spain and in addition to the arrests, police seized 1.5 kilos of high purity cocaine. They also discovered the laboratory where the imported drugs were being processed.
The drugs were coming in from Argentina and the Dominican Republic by way of human couriers, including ‘mules’. Some of the arrests took place in La Herradura. Around 20 bank accounts used to launder the proceeds of the drugs operations have also been detected and frozen.
Thirteen of the detainees have been remanded in custody, the rest have been released on bail.
