The Consumer Price Index for May was up seven-tenths on April at 4.6%, the highest level since 1995.
The increase is being blamed on the rising price of fuel and lubricants which, in turn, add to transportation costs. It has now been at over 4% for the past seven months, just a little way off the government target of 2%.
The core inflation rate, which excludes energy products and non-prepared food (and makes the figures look good), stands at 3.3% for May 2008 and the Harmonized Inflation Rate is now at 4.7%.
Just need a few more rates to make up a boxed set.
