Perennial underachievers Spain booked their place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2008 with a 2-1 victory against Sweden, but it took until the second minute of time added on. Torres opened the scoring after 15 minutes but Ibrahamivic restored the balance after 34. minutes.
Spain enjoyed much of the possession but were unable to convert it into goals, having to wait until the second minute of time added to clinch victory. David Villa scored the winner, his fourth of the tournament.
