Ten people have now been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of businessman Rafael Ávila, including a cousin of PP leader Mariano Rajoy.
Police officers have now arrested ten people in various parts of the country in connection with the kidnapping of San Lucar de Barrameda businessman Rafael Ávila on June 3rd 2008. The detainees include the alleged ringleader of the gang, Luis Miguel Rodríguez Pueyo, a known offender, and Raúl Brey Abalo, cousin of the Partido Popular president Mariano Rajoy.
Rafael Ávila spent sixteen days in captivity at various locations with the kidnappers initially demanding a ransom of €10 million but later revising this to €2 million.
It would appear that the police investigation into the kidnapping has already ascertained the exact location of Rafael Ávila but the authorities were waiting for ‘the right time’ before making their move to rescue him.
