Renovation of the Health Centre in Coín has still not started, despite the fact that the draft project was submitted eighteen months ago.
The original plan was for the €1.4 million renovation project to be completed during 2008 and the draft proposal was submitted some eighteen months ago. The project itself is expected to take between 12 and 18 months to complete, so 2008 is a physical impossibility.
Add to that the fact that the project hasn’t even been put out to tender yet and it becomes a question of ‘don’t hold your breath’.
The renovations are mainly to do with the first floor area, with improvemnts to emergency care, waiting areas, toilet facilities, storage rooms and offices. The facade of the outpatient facility, which is in a poor state, is also scheduled for attention.
The Coín health centre is one of the most active in the Guadalhorce area with services for the immobilised, care for the terminally ill, pregnancy monitoring, complete vaccination programs, minor surgery and the early detection of metabolic disorders.
The new health centre in Álora, which has suffered more than two years of delays, has still to open its doors although the latest indications are that the centre will come into operation in July.
