A 78 year old man has been arrested in Córdoba after allegedly killing his 81 year old wife.
The man apparently walked onto the street shouting ‘call the Guardia Civil, I’ve killed my wife’. The couple had been married for fifty years and there was no history of violence or mistreatment of any kind.
The victim, 81 year old Paulina R.R. was found on the sofa of their home and had apparently been strangled. Preliminary investigations indicate that the woman could have been suffering from a serious illness, having been treated recently at the Hospital Infanta Margarita in Cabra, and that this could have some bearing on the case.
The Instituto Andaluz de la Mujer in Córdoba are also of the opinion that this is not a typical case of gender violence, although it is being classified as such.
It is the first gender violence fatality in Córdoba province this year. The region of Andalucía has recorded 5 fatalities so far, with a total of 26 in the whole of Spain.
