Spain are through to the semi-finals of Euro 2008 after beating Italy 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out.
A not too brilliant normal time produced a goalless draw and so it all boiled down to spot kicks. Goalkeeper Iker Casillas became the hero of the day as he saved two penalties, with Cesc Fabregas slotting home his first ever penalty kick to send Spain on their way to a semi-final clash with Russia.
Spain, of course, beat Russia 4-1 earlier in the tournament, although the Russians were without their influential star player Andrei Arshavin. The omens, however, are looking pretty good for Spain.
