A new Municipal Ordinance has come into effect in Vélez-Málaga regulating satellite telephony and broadcasting antennas.
The Council has opted for licensing more antennas but with a lower capacity and applies to all installations generating elctromagnetic firelds in the range 0 to 300 GHz. Under the new ordinance, antennas will be prohibited within 500 metres of schools, nurseries, libraries, health centers, hospitals and nursing homes.
Companies who have installed authorised mobile antennas in the municipality must renew their licenses every three years. For companies whose antennas were not authorised by the municipality, they have one year in which to get the necessary paperwork in order.
The new ordinance applies to mobile phone antennas, radio and television transmissions but excludes amateur radio antennas, the reception of broadcasting and television stations and equipment for national defence, public security, civil protection and other municipal services.
