Spain is now top of the FIFA world rankings for the first time in their history following their Euro 2008 triumph.
The perennial underachievers were ranked fourth in June 2008, but victory in Euro 2008 has seen them rise to the top of the pile. Argentina were the leaders but have slipped down to sixth after several draws.
The rankings are compiled using match results with extra points for winning major trophies.
