Work on the Rio Chillar project in Nerja is now apparently 63% complete and the second and final phase should be finished by the end of the year.
The project to provide a narrow channel of water at the western end of Nerja is now 63% complete and the company Pinus S.A. has been awarded the contract for second and final phase. The final phase includes constructing walkways, a cycle path, an access road down to El Playazo beach, landscaping, installing pedestrian footbridges and various bits of street furniture. The budget has been set at €785,195.
The project has been beset with problems and delays, including a flood last September which virtually meant starting the whole thing again from scratch. Work has been stop-go the whole time but is now said to be moving on swiftly, although there is very little evidence of this when you walk past the area.
The 1.3km stretch is now expected to be completed at the end of the year!
