Nerja is set to receive 25% more funds from the Málaga Provincial Council in 2009.
Málaga Council has been busy revising its paramaters for financing the 100 municipalities in order to correct any anomalies and to make sure that inequalities to not occur. To this end, Nerja is set to receive around €535,000 for municipal projects in 2009, an increase of 25% over the current year.
Of the total amount, €485,000 is for economic projects and €50,000 for ‘technical assistance’. The Council is planning to invest (spend) the money in five strategic areas, such as infrastructure, cultural and folk festivals, youth and sports and other services.
Infrastructure is set to take the lion’s share, €300,000, with projects relating to improvements in water supply, sanitation and street lighting
Money will also be invested in around 150 smaller projects and services, including the financing of school sports tournaments and the Servicio de Atención a la Movida (SAM).
